District 8 has four Tri-Valley league teams challenging for the title . The runner-up spot is going to be interesting. Its going to be very tough for the other 3 to knock off Caney Valley .
Caney Valley 4-2
The Bullpups coming off a rare league loss last week at Cherryvale 22-16. Caney Valley will lean heavily on tailback Grant Richey . They usually dominante in the run game . If Caney can cut down some turnovers at key points in the game they have a chance to make a run in the playoffs. The Bullpups will host the Eureka Tornadoes this week . Their toughest district match up should be with Neodesha in week 8.
Fredonia has an offense that can beat you with the pass and the running game . Quarterback Delvin Hendix likes to find talented wide out Joe Reyes. The Yellow Jackets have won the games they should have won so far this season . They will have to upset league foe Neodesha to make a run at this district . Coach Svaty will have his players ready to challenge for at least a runner spot to make it to the playoffs for the second straight year.
The Bluestreaks started the season on the wrong foot with a last second loss to Jayhawk-Linn 28-26. Since then they have not lost or won consecutive games. Neodesha did give Humboldt a tough game early this season in week 3 . Coming into district play after walloping the Lions from Leon Bluestem 60-18. They will need to knock of the other Wilson county team in Fredonia this week or their chances will look bleak to make the playoffs this season .
As Zoel Lopez and I stated at the beginning of the season on our podcast Eureka got off to a great start winning their first two games. Then they headed to Tri-Valley league play and have went win less. The Tornadoes did lose starting quarterback to injury in week 3 . Eureka does have stand out running back / quarterback Cash Parmes to lead the team . He can beat you with his legs or arm . They will need to try and stay healthy in the Caney game so they can try and knockoff either Neodesha or Fredonia .
Winner – Caney Valley
Runner up – Fredonia
