TJ Mayhue is a senior student-athlete at Labette County High School. Mayhue is a transfer from Parsons High where he attended and played football in his first three years. He broke onto the scene as a freshman when Mayhue started at safety for the Vikings and began to rotate in at running back.
Mayhue has been a great addition to a loaded Labette County team. A team that has been looking quite sharp after winning four (4) straight now. Their only loss this season came at the hands of the western power Andale. Mayhue commented on the first couple games of the season.
“Our varsity players only played the first half vs Fredonia and coming into that week of Andale we had an ok week of practice but not one of our best.” Mayhue explained. “We had too many turnovers the Andale game and they were a lot more physical than us. That loss made us realize that we still had work to do until we could be elite. And since that point we have had great weeks of practice and we have rattled off 4 in a row. All of the teams we have faced, we have respected. So we prepare every week like each team is undefeated regardless of record.”
After continuing to speak with TJ, here are some of things we’ve uncovered about his on-field and off-field life.
