Tri-Valley Week 4 Preview

This week has every Tri-Valley team playing a league opponent.  Three of the four games really have my interest.  The defending league champion Caney Valley (2-1) travels to Humboldt to take on the undefeated Cub squad . The Chargers of Cherryvale will try to stop Fredonia’s 2 game win streak .  Eureka tries to get back on the winning side of things with a home contest against Leon-Bluestem.  The Blue Streaks of Neodesha should have no problems with a struggling Erie team .

Cherryvale (2-1) (2-1 league) vs. Fredonia (2-1) (1-0 league)

I believe we can find out a lot about both teams with this match up .  Cherryvale has 13 turnovers in the first three weeks of the season with 7 fumbles and 6 interceptions.  They have to clean that up or there will be some losses that should be wins in their upcoming games . Fredonia comes in on a small 2 game win streak.  Their 2 wins come against teams with out a win yet .  If Cade Addis and company continue to run the ball with success and hits a couple big plays with the passing game they should come away with the victory .

My prediction – Cherryvale wins 34-12

Humboldt (3-0 & 3-0 league) vs Caney-Valley (2-1 & 1-0 league)

This might just be the game of the week in Southeast Kansas.  Defending league champion Caney is the toughest opponent Humboldt will face this regular season .  Both teams like to play smash mouth football .  Humboldt will be without starting quarterback Hesston Murrow for this game . Kyler Allen will step in and play quarterback who has some experience behind center . He is lightening quick and can hopefully get the passing game going for the Cubs.  There is alot going on with this game this week besides just the teams being at the top of the league. Coach Wyrick’s cousin who had coached for this Cub team the last couple of years left to back to coach for his hometown Bulldog team. It’s also homecoming for the home team .  ” I think this game will be what pioneers of this game had in mind , way back when ” Coach Logan Wyrick said .

My prediction –  Caney wins 21-20 ouch that hurt!!!

Leon Bluestem (1-2) at Eureka (2-1&0-1 in league)

Where do these teams fit in the battle of the Tri-Valley league?  Bluestem’s only win so far is against the win less Erie team .  Eureka’s wins are against opponents that have yet to win a game .  After this Friday one of these teams will have a win against a team with a victory this season .  Eureka has been playing at a lot higher level than what they were a year ago , thats for sure.  I am not sure if the Tornadoes will have their starting quarterback for this contest or not but with or without him they should win this game .

My prediction – Eureka wins big 28-6

Neodesha (1-2 & 0-1 league) at Erie (0-3)

The Blue Streaks showed me something last week with an impressive defense against Humboldt.  There offense is going to put up big points this week against a weaker Erie squad.  Neodesha should be able to run at will and work on their passing game whenever they choose in this matchup .  Erie will definitely have to wait for another opponent to get their first victory .

My prediction Neodesha blows the doors off the Devils 60-0

I have to miss the biggest game of the year for my Humboldt Cubs .  I really want to be there for this one .  If you have the chance get to the beautiful complex in Humboldt to watch this premier match up .
