The Fredonia Yellow Jackets won their first game of the season 34-28 over Douglass.

“I felt like a lot of our guys had break out games in Friday night’s victory,” said second year Fredonia head coach Marc Svaty.

Some of those players with break out games include quarterback Devlin Hendrix who threw for 190 yards with 14 completions on 20 attempts and 1 touchdown. Hendrix also accounted for 141 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns.

Wide receiver Joe Reyes caught 9 passes for 135 yards and 1 touchdown in the win.

Running back Owen Blandamer carried the ball 23 times for 125 yards and 1 touchdown.

Despite the large offensive output, the Yellow Jackets were locked in a back and forth match-up through all four quarters.

Fredonia (1-1) will host Tri-Valley League foe Erie Red Devils (0-2,0-2) on Friday night with kick off set for 7PM.

A former military brat, Zoel has lived in Alaska and Montana (went to the same high school as Ryan Leaf, but he doesn't talk about that anymore), it wasn't until he moved to Southeast Kansas did he discover his love of sports. Working for Coffeyville radio and MyTown Media, Zoel covered high school, junior college, and professional sports, including the 2015 MLB World Series. When he's not talking sports, he's probably on twitter.
